How JobSeal works
A complete guide to verified employment history — for candidates, employers, and recruitment agencies.
Build a verified career record in 7 steps
A JobSeal profile replaces vague phone references with a quantified, referee-backed score that follows you throughout your career — and speaks for itself when you apply for your next role.
- 1
Create your free account
Register with your email address. JobSeal uses this to verify your identity and send you notifications. Your account is free to create and always will be.
- 2
Add your employment history
For each role you want verified, enter the employer name, your job title, start and end dates, and a brief description of your responsibilities. You can add as many roles as you like.
- 3
Nominate one or more referees for each role
Provide the name and email address of a direct referee — typically a manager or team lead who worked with you during that role. You can add up to three referees per role at any time; each completes their survey independently.
- 4
Each referee completes a structured survey
Referees receive a secure, anonymous survey covering four professional dimensions. The survey takes around 5–8 minutes. Their individual responses are never stored — only aggregated scores are kept.
- 5
HR cross-validation (optional but powerful)
For an additional layer of confidence, the employer's HR department can independently attest your employment dates and role title — separate from the referee survey. HR is invited once per role regardless of how many referees you add.
- 6
Earn your verified career score
Once referees respond, JobSeal averages their scores across four dimensions and computes a role score. Your career score is a tenure-weighted average across all verified roles.
- 7
Share your verified profile
Your public REFID profile link can be shared with any employer or agency. You control who can request your full contact details. Verified candidates appear in the JobSeal candidate search.

Create your free profileWhat the referee survey covers
Referees assess candidates across four professional dimensions using a structured, anonymous survey. Each dimension contains 5 questions rated on a scale of 1–10. Individual responses are never stored — only the averaged scores per dimension are retained. The whole survey takes around 5–8 minutes.

How scores are calculated
- →Each question is rated 1–10 by the referee.
- →The 5 question scores are averaged to produce a dimension score.
- →If a replacement referee is nominated and also responds, their scores are averaged with the original.
- →The four dimension scores are averaged to produce a role score.
- →Your overall career score is a weighted average of all role scores, weighted by role duration.
Hire people you can trust
JobSeal gives employers and recruitment agencies access to a pool of candidates whose employment history has been independently verified by their referees — not self-reported.
- 1
Register your employer or agency account
Create your account and complete a brief business verification. Agency accounts include additional tools for sharing candidate reports with your clients.
- 2
Search the verified candidate pool
Filter candidates by career score, professional dimensions, role type, and verified employment period. Every candidate you see has at least one referee-verified role.
- 3
Review anonymised profiles and scores
Browse a candidate's verified employment history, dimension scores, and HR cross-validation status — all anonymised until you choose to proceed.
- 4
Request contact details
When you want to move forward, request the candidate's contact details. The candidate is notified and can accept or decline. No cold outreach without consent.
- 5
Agencies: share a shareable report
Recruitment agencies can generate a shareable verification report for any candidate and send it directly to their client — creating a verified shortlist before a single call is made.

Frequently asked questions
- Is JobSeal free for candidates?
- Yes. Creating a profile, adding employment history, and nominating referees is always free for candidates. Your verified profile and REFID can be shared with any employer at no cost.
- What if my referee doesn't respond?
- JobSeal sends automated reminders over 14 days. If a referee hasn't responded after that, you can nominate a different referee for the same role. You can have multiple referees per role — the scores are averaged.
- Can a referee see other referees' responses?
- No. Each referee completes their survey independently and cannot see any other responses. Surveys are anonymous — even you cannot see what an individual referee said. Only the aggregated dimension averages are stored.
- What if I disagree with my score?
- You can raise a dispute for any verified role. JobSeal's dispute process allows you to provide supporting evidence and request a review. See the Dispute Guide for full details.
- How is my data protected?
- All personal data is stored in Australia (ap-southeast-2). Individual survey responses are never persisted — only computed averages. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. See our Privacy Policy for the full picture.
- Can employers see who my referees are?
- No. Referee identities are never disclosed to employers or agencies. Only the aggregated scores and the fact that referee(s) responded are shown.
- How is the career score calculated?
- Each verified role has a score across four dimensions (Delivery, Expertise, Conduct, Re-engagement), averaged from all referees who responded. Your overall career score is a weighted average across all your verified roles, weighted by role duration.
- What is HR cross-validation?
- Separately from the referee survey, the employer's HR department can independently confirm your employment dates and job title. This adds a second layer of verification and is indicated by a "Cross-validated" badge on your profile.
